Golems
Appearance
-
Golems appear in the 'living' form of whatever their maker decided for them.
-
Most golems come in the form of a human to make blending into society much easier. That being said, nothing stops a golem from being born with bright pink hair if that's what the maker decided.
-
If the maker was a human, the golem will more than likely appear rather simple, nothing out of the ordinary.
-
-
Golems do not have to be human, though it may put them at a disadvantage in life if they aren't.
-
A golem can look like an animal and still be able to talk as a human would. They will be stuck in that form unless they evolve with a certain ability to change their form once a month.
-
-
They are able to turn into their elemental form on a whim. Their elemental form is typically just an elemental version of their casual form.
-
Some golems have elemental forms which are vastly different form their casual forms. They can look underdeveloped if the golem isn't strong enough. In other cases, their elemental forms can resemble animal or monstrous shapes.

Origins
-
On a plane of existence far from Earth, resides a place known as the Elemental Realm. In this realm, juvenile fire, water, earth, and air spirits roam free. It is a place of total peace and harmony, governed by the Elemental Mother, a proud combination of all elements.
-
The young spirits grew restless and eager for purpose. Purpose the Elemental Mother could not give them in their world. All that they knew was goodness. Nobody had anything to do as there was nothing to do but communicate with one another.
-
The spirits were bored. That caused the Mother to be very upset. So, to give them new memories and opportunities, the Elemental Mother uprooted herself and grew within what's known as the Halford forest in Wyrdafel. The move had been so strenuous on her that she didn't have the magic available to bring her children with her, but she had a solution.
-
The Elemental Mother asked neighboring, Fae-worshiping wizards to use their wild magic to summon the spirits from the Elemental Realm. One by one, the wizards combined elements with their magic and brought golems to earth. Overjoyed, the juvenile spirits bonded with the wizards and ventured off with them to learn about this new world.
-
Everyone was happy. The elementals only new goodness, so they never took into account how bad humans could be.
-
If there is one thing the humans have been known for throughout history, it is their wars. With the knowledge of how to summon golems being widespread across the globe through wizardly whispers and teachings, mystics were summoning them in mass to fight wars.
-
Golems only knew as much as they were trained to know. Being that they age so quickly, the armies could replenish themselves with strong soldiers in no time at all.
-
-
The mother tree was truly heartbroken, but she hadn't the power to stop the gateway between earth and the Elemental Realm. So, with a heavy heart, she returned to her realm to comfort her children as they took their turns to disappear.

History
-
The golems were abused throughout the ages. Some got lucky and ended up in homes which loved them and treated them as preciously as children. Most were unlucky and had to live short lives of servitude and cruelty.
-
The Elemental Mother, with no means of returning to Earth, hid away within the Elemental Realm and wasn't seen again until recent times.
-
Everyone has a strong opinion about golems. Some think it's terrible to abuse them, whilst others don't even regard them as sentient. They were simply animated rocks in most eyes, why should they be given the time of day?

Modern Day
-
In the year 2019, an unknown wild witch summoned a golem by accident. It wasn't out of need. Rather, it was out of love and desire for companionship. She treated the golem well. Upon learning that the elementals only live a single year, she knew she needed to somehow extend the life of her beloved creation, her child.
-
Every day, she meditated with her wild magic, trying to reach out for an answer beyond earth. Through a twist of fate, the cosmos linked her to the grieving Elemental Mother. With a burst of her magic, she brought her to earth to be replanted in Halford once more as a beautiful, motherly tree.
-
Through her desperate need to extend the life of the golems, the wild witch managed to convince the mother tree to sacrifice the magic she needed to return to the Elemental Realm in order to bless the golems with at least a 10 year lifespan.
-
The mother tree agreed and passed on this ability to the witch, whom began to bless each golem she met with a longer life. They needed the chance to experience the beauty of earth; to break free of the cruelty they were raised with. They could be sentient, respectful people if they wanted to be.
-
In August of 2019, the wild witch accidentally revealed her magic to normies during a very pressing time. She was arrested and sent to Bermuda, a jail erected by the Supernatural Supreme Court (the supernatural governors.)
-
In jail, she sacrificed her own life to the Elemental Realm and left behind obscure clues as to how the golems can regain their long lives once more. (This is currently being investigated IC).
-
Meanwhile, golems were trying to fight for their independence. They needed to stop humans from being able to summon them! Or, at least learn how to create golems of their own.
-
The more new golems that the 1st generation golems make, the less spirits there will be for humans to summon from the Elemental Realm.
-
-
A large stone golem by the name of Chert marched right up to the base of the mother tree and demanded she let golems have children of their own. They needed to fight back against the tyranny of humankind.
-
The Elemental Mother opened her weary eyes and smiled with love at her mountain child. It was a solution she had not considered. With the very last of her magic, she turned a hollow knot in her trunk into a ceremonial place of unity for the golems.
-
By removing a part of their essences, two parent golems could place them together within the carcass of the tree to create a child between them. See this link for more info.
-
-
The Elemental Mother died, but she left behind her tree form. The golems of Wyrdafel built a warded village around it in her honour. It was the beginning of a new age for golems: independence.

Advanced Lore
-
Golems currently only live for one year.
-
When golems are created, depending on how much wild magic they were given will determine how old they appear.
-
So, if a little bit of wild magic was used, they can appear as young as a newborn.
-
If a lot of wild magic was used, they can be born immediately as a fully-grown adult.
-
Some golems can appear as old as 50 or 60. They tend to not look any older unless they choose to change their appearance in that manner.
-
-
If a golem appears young, they will grow a year every day until they reach an appearance of 18. They will henceforth appear 18 until the end of their year.
-
As of August 2019, golems are now able to apply for a fake birth certificate and ID from the Supernatural Supreme Court. This will allow them to identify as valid citizens of their chosen country.
-
Golems can evolve to do things that appear more human.
-
All golems may struggle to keep their tattoos and scars unless they are acquired through magical means.
