Werewolves
Appearance
-
Appears just as any human would.
-
Werewolves that spend more time in their beastly forms might take on a more wild appearance. Hair might be coarser and stick out, body hair is more abundant, hands naturally curl into fists, back may hunch a little, and the knees might seem more bent.
-
Born werewolves which spend more time in their feral form (not wolf form) might adopt paler eye colours such as faint yellows, blues, and grays, making the black of their pupils really stand out.
-
A werewolf's wolf fur reflects their natural hair colour in human form. So, if you dye your hair pink, your wolf will still be coloured in your character's natural hair colour, except it will have a pink mane.
-
The size of your werewolf's beast forms does not reflect the size of their human form. Instead, it reflects the warrior within them. So, even the shortest humans can be the largest wolves.
Origins
-
The werewolf 'curse' or 'gift' is a topic of debate in the supernatural world. Was it a mistake or was it meant to be? Unbeknownst to most supernatural historians, the werewolves originally came from the Fae.
-
The Fae are a community of wild beings which revere nature above everything. They can typically be found deep within forests, where they weave their magic for the benefit of the flora and fauna. Some wizards wield their wild magic to this day, but to obtain such a blessing is no easy task. The Fae have been around much longer than humans have. In fact, they've been around much longer than even Earth has. It is presumed Magtherithil placed them upon Earth to help it become eventually inhabitable.
-
Managing the balance of nature doesn't just come with blooming life, it also comes with death, too. The circle of life was difficult to manage in the early stages, so the Fae needed the help of more competent and intelligent creatures. Taking their loyal friends, the wolves, they created bipedal werewolves which could follow orders well and cull just about any animal community which got out of hand.
-
However, the Fae learned that the werewolves were not above getting out of hand themselves. Their populations expanded and the Fae had to push them out of the deep woods as they could no longer handle their feral states.
-
When humans started prominently existing on earth, they were savagely murdered by werewolves and not even wizards could stop them. Out of fear and desperation, a community of lunar mages prayed to the moon, (which they believed to be their deity). Miraculously, a woman with flowing white locks and robes descended from the heavens and put all the werewolves to sleep. She was known as the Lady of Dreams, Lucidorella.
-
When the werewolves awoke the next day after the full moon, they were no longer beasts. Instead, they were human. They learned to either assimilate into human culture or return to the woods, but every full moon they would become feral monsters.

History
-
Werewolves have always been within human communities. They hide themselves very well. Some prefer to stay hidden within forests, forming packs and tribes with their own kind.
-
Though they were given the gift of control by Lucidorella long ago, during the 4th century there was a surge in feral werewolves led by the Alpha packleader, Ivan the Gnarled. He single-handedly rallied enough wolves in Scotland to wipe out the entirety of Iverness. Most humans attacked were then turned into bitten werewolves.
-
Ivan spread an enormous population of wolves around Europe and taught them to hide in ships to conquer lands far from Britain. Things were getting out of hand again and the chances of Lucidorella coming down from the night sky to save them was looking slim. So, the humans had to come up with another solution: Monster Hunters.
-
Monster hunters were normies and supernaturals capable of felling ferocious beasts with innovative methods and magics. They became famous and beloved. Towns and settlements were desperate to keep a monster hunter in their vicinity at all times. They ate and drank for free, were given superb lodgings, and had all the attention they could possibly ask for.
-
The monster hunter which managed to chop Ivan's head off was a greater wizard by the name of Verome Emberstone in 383 AD. He became a monster hunter of legend, but was modest in refusing praise. He was simply doing, in his opinion, what needed to be done. Many tried to follow in his footsteps. Wizards attempted to crack his immense spellpower, but were at a loss.
-
Strangely enough, Verome disappeared, only to return to the public eye every few centuries. What was he? An immortal of some kind? Nobody quite knew. He has only turned up recently in the year 2019 as an SSC (supernatural supreme court) agent, of which are known to fund most of the modern day monster hunters.

Modern Day
-
Werewolves can be found pretty much everywhere. Some still gather in their woodland tribes.
-
In late January of 2019 a 'Blood Moon' rose to the skies and forced every single werewolf to diverge upon human communities. They had absolutely no way of stopping themselves. This was a tragedy by the hands of werewolves the world hadn't seen since the times of Ivan the Gnarled. The SSC started to round up the werewolves and label them as too dangerous to be anywhere near human society. They received tracker tags like wild beasts.
-
They were treated very poorly by the other supernaturals up until April 2019 when Peter Walker (notable wizard) managed to create a drug called 'Moonleaf' which could suppress the feral nature of a werewolf during the full moon. Furthermore, it allowed them to fully transform even on normal nights without risk of going berserk!
-
By May, 2019, the SSC was already forming plans to buy out large stocks of Moonleaf to form their own branch of werewolves under their watchful gaze and command. They built 'The Den' ironically in Inverness. The Den is a ranch where troubled and desperate werewolves go to be given free moonleaf in exchange for their services. This has been henceforth known as project HOWL (Humane Operational Werewolven Legion).
-
In August 2019 one of Peter Walkers employees at the Moonleaf factory betrayed him, ending up in a ripoff drug being sold to the werewolves for a much cheaper price. It was undoing all of the progress made to benefit the race as it made them more feral than ever. Project HOWL shut this down, however. In the process, they bought the factory off of Peter, which meant the Moonleaf was entirely controlled by the SSC going forward.
-
Nowadays, some werewolves volunteer at HOWL. Though they have to work for the SSC, which might be rather distasteful to some, they are cared for to the fullest. Many wolves have learned that it's easier to just be in the SSC's good books in case another Ivan ruins it for them all.

Noteworthy People
-
Lucidorella: Lady of Dreams. In recent times, it is discovered that she was a dragon imprisoned on the moon for recklessly putting people to sleep. Some might refer to her as the Sandman. She is responsible for containing the werewolves' feral nature to the full moon.
-
Ivan the Gnarled: A famous alpha werewolf with striking silver fur and faint yellow eyes. His story has been passed around many werewolf communities. He's the most ruthless, bloodthirsty wolf ever to have existed. Some revere him. Others blame him for all the discrimination they now face.
-
Verome Emberstone: The most exalted wizard monster hunter to have ever lived. He slew Ivan the Gnarled.
-
Peter Walker: The wizard creator of the Moonleaf drug in April of 2019 which would ultimately stop werewolves from ever becoming feral so long as they consistently consumed it.
-
Layla Walker: The alpha werewolf of the current pack which dominates Wyrdafel (the Heavypaws). She is the wife of Peter and has been in control of Wyrdafel's wolven populace since roughly February of 2019.

Advanced Lore
-
All werewolves are hurt by silver and wolfsbane (a rare herb).
-
Born werewolves consist of at least one parent having been a werewolf at the time of conception.
-
Bitten werewolves are humans which were given the curse via an attack. To give someone the curse, the werewolf must place a fair dosage of their blood into the bloodstream of a human. This is an excruciating process. Sometimes this happens on accident in the heat of battle. If a wolf has a cut mouth and they lock their jaws onto their target, the curse can be passed with ease.
-
Whilst born werewolves have a wolf form as well as their bipedal one, bitten werewolves do not.
-
If a bitten werewolf wants a wolf form, they must be re-bitten by an alpha werewolf during a full moon. Alpha werewolves are gifted the strongest traces of the Fae magic originally bestowed upon them, making their bite particularly significant.
-
-
A werewolf becomes an alpha only when five or more wolves accept them as a pack leader. An alpha will never lose their alpha status, even if their pack dies.
-
Alphas come with a very dominant scent which will alert other wolves in the area of their fighting prowess and spirit. Most lesser werewolves will abide, others will challenge them.
-
If an alpha is defeated by another alpha, they will lose their alpha status.
-
-
Werewolves can regenerate health faster than humans can, this tends to make them stronger. Their bones, muscles, and skin mend quicker.
-
After transforming on a full moon, all lesser cuts and scars will disappear from the body as new skin is grown the next morning.
-
Major scarring and imperfections will remain on the skin, as if written into the building code of the werewolf's body.
-
Scars made by silver will never disappear.
-
Bones cannot be grown, only mended, so if you lose a leg it's gone for good. Organs cannot be regrown either.
-
If a tattoo has very significant value to your character, it will remain when they gain their new skin. Insignificant tattoos will vanish.
-
-
All born werewolves get their wolf form at the age of 13.
-
Both bitten and born werewolves go through their first full transformation on the first full moon of their 18th year. If a human was bitten after the age of 18, they go through the transformation process at the next full moon.
-
The transformation into a wolf is very similar to that of a shapeshifter's. A dusty cloud will swirl around the body as it takes on a new form. All clothing is discarded to the floor.
-
The transformation into a bipedal (feral) werewolf is a very painful process of snapping bones and shedding skin. A lot of wolves choose to eat their human remains for personal reasons.
-
Unless a feral werewolf has taken moonleaf, they will have no control over their body, but they will remember everything they did by the time they turn back into a human.
-
Werewolves tend to feel itchy and temperamental when a full moon is around the corner.
-
They can perceptively sniff emotions from people. (In roleplay, we do a perception check for this).
-
Bipedal werewolves are able to speak and be understood. They sound quite grizzly.
-
Werewolven wombs are extra protected, making them capable warriors during pregnancy.
-
Any consumption of wild magic will coax them into a mild feral nature reminiscent of their time spent with the Fae that made them.
-
Werewolves are capable of smelling arcane on a wizard. (We roll perception for this, too.)
