Rithils
Appearance
-
Small, reptilian creatures from a planet unlike Earth.
-
Their overall bodily appearance reflects any sort of lizard or snake, so long as they are still accompanied by legs and arms.
-
A Rithil younger than 60 will have had the chance to look at other types of reptiles, such as smaller lizards and alligators, as well as different types of snakes on Earth. It's entirely possible for a youngster to adapt a different reptile form.
-
This can only be done one time.
-
-
-
Their scales are a reflection of how frequently they are out in the sun.
-
Brighter colours mean that they are very frequently in the sun.
-
Darker colours mean that they spend more time underground or indoors.
-
If the weather is void of sun, their scales can shift colour over time. Since they shed every monday, it can be quite a dramatic, quick process.
-
-
-
Their eyes range in many colours, they tend to acquire the colour from their parents.
-
Every Rithil has the ability to camouflage into one human form of their choice. This is usually a human they have seen before.
-
Rithils only pick one human form as it's easy to concentrate on.
-
Many Rithils have chosen to take on the appearance of a prison guard from Area 51 that they've frequently stared at.
-
-
Human forms are as short as they are in their lizard forms.
Origins
-
Rithils hail from the planet 'Rithilia', which is an extremely small desert world not too far from earth.
-
They weren't always reptilian in shape. No, at first they seemed a lot more simple. Gray blobs just rolling about the hot terrain. It wasn't until Magtherithil, the Guardian Dragon of the Cosmos arrived, that they took on a new identity.
-
The gray creatures were fascinated by the big, leathery beast. Though they couldn't grow extra limbs, they could take on the lizardy appearance of the dragon instead.
-
Magtherithil came with a language and taught them how to communicate with one another better. They were incredibly malleable creatures- they absorb information like a sponge.
-
The dragon wasn't around for idle chatter, however. He was on a quest to deliver arcane magic to all inhabitable planets. He'd already been to Earth at this point.
-
The RIthils, evidentially naming themselves after the dragon they revered so highly, were bemused by the arcane magic, but they just didn't have it in them to actually wield it. This caused Magtherithil to grow extremely frustrated. He was on a tight schedule. If the Rithils wouldn't learn arcane magic, he needed to move on.
-
Magtherithil left behind him a giant shard of raw arcane, which was something he did for all planets. If there was a chance that the Rithils could change their mind, then it would be more than enough to get them started.
-
The Rithils build their society around the shard, heartbroken that their 'god' had left them. As time passed, crystalline pieces snapped off of it. The lizard-people were hasty to pick them up and feel the sheer power radiating from the core. It felt very much akin to the electricity they'd already learned to harbor with their intelligent minds.
-
So, they used the fragments of the shard to make creations. They were small at first, the odd light or fanciful cane. As the Rithils became more creative, they started to make real contraptions with the raw arcane. They made transportation vehicles which glided over the surface of the planet, they made spanners which could repair things rapidly, and hammers that could build entirely on their own. Lastly, there were guns and weapons capable of very quickly killing animals for food. It was revolutionary!
-
Then one day, a Rithil by the name of Peb created the first bomb. His logic was to be able to dig a sudden very big hole with an arcane explosion. It was purely to expand the size of his underground hovel. What Peb didn't realize was that his hovel was already very far underground. When the explosion went off, the core of the planet was reached.
-
Massive earthquakes shook Rithilia. Cracks scored the earth. The planet was to break in half! Terrified for their lives, the Rithils loaded themselves into the buildings attached to the giant shard of arcane and watched as their planet crumbled away before their very eyes.
-
Using their contraptions, the Rithils powered their pseudo-spacecraft in one direction and prayed for salvation. That salvation came in the form of crash-landing into Earth.

History
-
The Rithils crash-landed in Nevada, USA. It was quite a discrete place in the desert, so there weren't many onlookers. This happened 60 years ago, so it wasn't televised or easily capturable on a device. A few normies spoke about it between one another, but were ultimately not believed.
-
They were very quickly apprehended by the Supernatural Supreme Court (the governing force on Earth for Supernaturals.)
-
Then, they were taken to Area 51, which was a 'military base' which was erected purely to hold the Rithils at first, but it then turned into a secretive base which focuses on the study of Cosmic dragons.
-
They stole Magtherithil's arcane shard and locked it away from the Rithils along with all of their fancy gadgets. They needed to be studied. Perhaps with enough information, they'd be able to find Magtherithil themselves.

Modern Day
-
As of the Area 51 raid on the 20th of September, 2019, the Rithil were free from the clutches of the SSC. It was televised that nothing happened that day, but in fact, something had.
-
Two hundred Rithils stampeded out of the base and hid skillfully in the desert terrain of Nevada. They adopted the appearances of the prison guards and young raiders, then darted off into the world. The SSC are desperately trying to find them, but to no avail.

Noteworthy People
-
Magtherithil: Guardian dragon of the Cosmos. He's the bringer of magic to all planets, and revered as a god to the Rithils.
-
Peb: The darn bomb-making Rithil that managed to blow up Rithilia! It is assumed he's still alive and hiding somewhere on earth.

Advanced Lore
-
Rithils live until 150.
-
Magtherithil left Rithilia 120 years ago, so it is possible to have seen him in person. He's a giant gold dragon with an ethereal blue undertone. His entire form is riddled with twisting spirals which seem to move if stared at long enough.
-
Rithils shed briefly once every Monday.
-
They tend to eat their shed as a little snack.
-
-
Rithils tend to take one very short names. Three to five letters, and typically just one or two syllables. The shorter the better. Anything more is seen as a waste of time and silly.
-
The name "Peb" is a great insult. It's on par with calling someone "the biggest idiot ever, ever."
-
-
Rithils are meat eaters primarily. They get stomach aches if they go too long just eating vegetation.
-
With sticky pads on their feet and hands, they can climb up walls in their lizardy forms.
-
Rithils lay eggs.
-
They have a knack for building contraptions and inventions. A Rithil that can build a good arcane device will be seen as one worth associating with in their culture.
