Vampires

Appearance

  • The body of a vampire is dead, but it's being held together by bad arcane woven by Drothoth itself. Hair and skin colour fade to a more unhealthy, paler shade. The skin sinks in a little to really show off the defining bone structure beneath. Hair loses its volume and seems more frail, like spiderweb.

  • If the human was overweight after they received their vampiric curse, fat will rapidly shed from their forms. This goes the same for muscles. All vampires are lithe.

  • Eye colour ranges depending on certain aspects of the vampire's existence:

    • If a human was attacked unwillingly, their eyes will simply be a paler shade of what they were originally.

    • If a human was given the curse willingly, they will take on red eyes.

    • If a vampire decides to feast only on animals or old blood, their eyes will turn yellow.

  • Perpetually have fangs on display unless they learn retractable fangs. (Tidbit coming soon)

  • Toe and finger nails tend to grow long and to a point, reminiscent of the claws they could have been if they'd turned into a demon.

Origins

  • Vampires are not an old race. At least, they aren't as old as people think. They spawn from the early Middle Ages. Their roots are purely demonic

  • Bloodqueen Vishendra was a lust demon of worth in Romania. She had an allure to her which could draw men for miles simply from her scent alone. Her palace was located inside of a mountain which could only be found through extensive exploring or by hearing the call of the Bloodqueen.

  • She was so successful in luring people to her location that she felt as if Drothoth was no longer giving her enough praise for her excellent actions. She wanted more power than what even Lucifer could offer her. So, she became the first of her kind to internalize her sin and stop feeding Hell. All of her victims only empowered her by following her bidding and providing sacrifices.

  • The demons of Drothoth were very displeased. Lucifer himself tried to summon Vishendra back, but she refused. Furious, he took her dark magic away entirely. No longer did she lure victims with her lusty charms. They didn't work.

  • In a fit of rage, Vishendra attacked her subjects for their disobedience. She happened to bite one of them by the name of Luca Albescu. The residual demonic magic within Veshendra manifested in his blood. After dying and being tossed out of the palace, he awoke a day later changed.

  • Luca was the first vampire. Not quite demon, not quite not demon, but somewhere in the middle.

  • Going off of the teachings of sin Vishendra forced upon him, he believed it was his duty to continue the sin of lust wherever he went. This is why a lot of old vampires appear promiscuous and sultry. However, this is simply a factor of culture. Not all vampires had to conform.

History

  • Luca, after discovering his immortality, found himself increasingly lonely due to outliving all of his companions. He may have been an advocate for the sin of lust, but it wasn't quite ingrained into him as deeply as if he were a demon. He had more human emotion on top of his darker tendencies. So, hoping that by biting people the same way Vishendra bit him, he could create companions that would remain with him forevermore.

  • He was correct. Thus, the spread of vampires started to surge all throughout eastern Europe and beyond. During this time werewolves were already established and still wreaking havoc. So, using them as a scapegoat to commit more sin of their own, they flew somewhat under the radar of Monster Hunters. Some of the more tactless vampires did find themselves staked.

  • Some vampires formed groups with specific sins and rules, other vampires expressed kindness and a need for redemption. The vampires that couldn't stand living on earth any longer ended up terminating themselves. Through a sick twist of fate, their souls were damned to go to Drothoth, no matter how good they were.

  • During the 10th century, due to the immense increase of vampires infecting the living, the Hidden Vatican was created. At the time it existed within Rome alone as a grand sector of holy religion. It was called 'Azatheer's Glory'. Their entire purpose was to annihilate unholy beings in secret to keep everyday citizens from ever realizing they were afoot in the first place. They renamed themselves to the Hidden Vatican in the 1900s as to not overuse the sacred word 'Azatheer' and diminish its special worth.

Modern Day

  • Vampires have been able to allude and become immune to the Hidden Vatican's persistence to destroy them by siding with the SSC (Supernatural Supreme Court). Though it's very controversial to accept undeads into living society, the SSC finds vampires extremely intelligent and useful. Being that they aren't bound to sin, they can be molded into immortal beings of good and progress. The Hidden Vatican does not agree, and thus, holds a grudge over the SSC for sanctioning them.

  • In April of 2019, vampires started to join the Red Dawn cult in mass. The gatherings and groups of vampires involved were more sin-inclined and leaped at the chance to prepare the world for Lucifer's rising. The Red Dawn leaders came up with ingenious ways for them to gain access to easy blood, which was also a lot of vampires' motives.

  • After the Red Dawn incident, the SSC has started to pull back from allowing vampires into their embassies. Their reputation is almost damaged beyond repair.

Noteworthy People

  • Bloodqueen Vishendra: A lust demon in Romania which existed as early as 400 AD. She wanted more power than Lucifer could give her, so she cut off her ties to Drothoth and infected the first vampire.

  • Luca Albescu: The first official vampire, responsible for the initial spread of the curse. There were other vampires that were created by Vishendra shortly after him.

  • Pope Creedy: The current head of the Hidden Vatican. He is currently pressing for the SSC to completely let go of their alliance with the vampires. The man is responsible for commanding countless unholy deaths and is not to be taken lightly.

Advanced Lore

  • The oldest vampire, Luca, is 1587 years of age. It is presumed he's still alive somewhere.

  • The Bloodqueen is presumably not around anymore, but who knows!

  • Vampires cannot be touched on their bare skin by sunlight. They can, however, walk around with a lot of coverage.

  • They need to consume fresh human blood to remain in best possible shape.

    • Old blood keeps them revitalized, but it doesn't quite have the same effect as fresh. It's not as tasty nor does it yield any energy boost.

    • Animal blood has an even worse effect. It'll keep the vampire alive, but it will harm their overall performance.

  • Not drinking blood for two weeks will immobilize them.

  • A stake through the heart will grant a vampire temporary death. They will re-awaken once the stake is removed.

  • Contrary to popular belief, vampires can see their reflections. However, if the mirror is backed with silver, they cannot.

  • Silver harms vampires almost as much as it harms werewolves.

  • Garlic doesn't repel vampires, but it might disgust them as the smell is strong enough to register with them.

  • Vampires aren't able to cross a threshold if they haven't been invited. Thresholds include:

    • Running streams/rivers. Bridges can be crossed, but running water cannot be jumped over or else the vampire will suffer severe burning.

    • Inhabited homes (not shops). A vampire can walk in through a window if it has been left open, but not a door.

  • Able to see in the dark.

  • Vampires can walk up walls and ceilings as long as their shoes and gloves are off, this is via a strange dark magic phenomena passed on to them by demons.

  • With enough training, a vampire can shapeshift into a bat, black dog, or spider.

  • Though vampires cannot reproduce, females can lay eggs which hatch into nightmarish bat fiends.

  • Werewolves contain a reagent within them which repels undeads. Because of this, vampires naturally feel inclined to be aggressive with them.

  • When a vampire dies they get transported to Drothoth. From there, they can be reborn as a real demon.

  • To give someone the vampire curse, the vampire must drain their victim of their blood until they are on the verge of death. Then, they place their own blood within the victim's wound. They die in the process. When they awaken, they are a vampire.
